If you are wondering how long it takes to get the results back from a DNA paternity test, the answer can vary, depending on which lab you choose. While some DNA labs can provide results in 4-5 days, others can take 3-12 weeks or in some cases, longer! Most people are looking for paternity results sooner rather than later; DDC’s standard is 4 working days with results emailed. Whatever your reason may be, there are many options for DNA paternity tests: legal, curiosity, prenatal, post-natal–choose wisely to fit your needs, and your budget.
How Can You Get Faster Paternity Test Results?
If you contact us directly, we can usually book you into our London office the same day. Imagine doing the initial call on a Monday with the results on a Friday!
Some paternity testing sites offer fast testing, but it may take them a week to post you the kit, with a few days to return it. Make sure when you are shopping around, that fast testing is only part of the picture. Other labs offer a low introductory price, but then add “Shipping & Handling” and other fees, making it not so a good deal after all. Make sure to call and ask about the total service and costs from beginning to end; otherwise, you may be disappointed.
Don’t forget about accuracy! If you get the results quickly but are not 100% confident in the results, then you have wasted your money. Before buying a test, make sure to do your homework on the lab to make sure it is the right choice for such an important test. When you are browsing, look for the ISO17025 Accreditation and the MOJ accreditation, and other independent ratings that ensure good practices and accuracy.

Hi.
If the dna results come back and a person is not the biological parent. Is there anyway that DDC can tell the relationship between the 2 individuals. Like Uncle niece if they are related. Just not father daughter related.
Hi, Karla. Test results show only results for that specific test. For example, if it’s a paternity test, it will not say something like, “This man is not the father, but he is the uncle.” In some cases, depending on the data, a notation may be made on a paternity report with a 0% probability of paternity that the alleged father may be a biological relation to the man who was tested.
Hi
If a test is bought from the store and sent in, and we already have the child’s DNA, about how long would it take us to get the results back?
Thank You,
Hello, Amanda. Results are posted two (2) business days after samples arrive at the lab.
What happens if the DNA test comes back and he is the father, on my daughter’s birth certificate my boyfriend signed and she has his last name?
Hello, Elizabeth. You should consult a family-law attorney about what should or could be done.
Good
Results of a test never show nothing. They always provide a probability of paternity, either if the man tested is considered the father or if he’s not. With today’s technology, there is no good reason why any lab should provide an inconclusive result for a paternity test.
Hello I was wondering what if the test comes back as 97.77777% will that be considered a positive that he is the father??
Hi, Shawn. That is considered an inconclusive result. It needs to be at least 99%. In order to make it over that threshold, the lab should either include the mother’s DNA or test additional genetic markers, or both.
How long does it take to get results back
Hi, Stephanie. Answers for all our tests are in this article.
Hey I’ve sent in my child DNA and the alleged father sample, would it make any difference- that I didn’t sent minds I’m the mother
Hello, Hope. Sometimes the mother’s DNA is helpful in confirming results, but it’s usually not required. If you are issued results without contributing your DNA, then yours was not needed. No worries!
How do I get back my daughter DNA test results with his alleged father if I don’t have an Email?
If the test is a legal one, you can request a copy of the results from the lab. If it is an at-home one, you can request a hard copy of the results if you also participated.
How long does it usually take for you’ll to receive the dna test when someone send their test in
Hi, Antonio. It takes just a day or two.
Do the results of the dna test come to the person who paid for it or does it go to both parties
Hi, Sana. The person who sets up online access credentials can access the test online. That person is welcome to share those login credentials with others if they choose to. If you are a participant in the test, then you can request a hard copy of results.
